Today we bring you yet another young couple in love, but this time, it’s not an engagement we are celebrating, but a tenth wedding anniversary! Ten years is a big one (after all, yours truly celebrated 10 years of being together in a big way)! ;) You might recognize these two, since Melissa and Chris are a part of Jen and Ben’s family and were in their wedding at Observatory Hill and Sails Restaurant last year.
Now, I know what you’re thinking. “How is it that these two are celebrating their tenth anniversary? They look way too young to have been married for ten years!” Melissa and Chris have now heard me say this ad nauseum, but it is true that these have barely aged at all over the last decade. On Jen and Ben’s wedding day last November, I was with the ladies as they got ready at Melissa and Chris’s home. I saw a beautiful big wedding portrait on the wall of the two of them under the Harbour Bridge, and thought to myself, “Oh shucks, they got married recently too, what a shame we didn’t know Jen and Ben sooner so that maybe we could have shot their wedding too!” Then I asked Melissa when the big day had been… to which she laughed and said it was over nine years ago!
Melissa and Chris are a couple after our own hearts: they love good food and good wine, they love to travel (and have done a fair bit of it together over the last decade), and they definitely love to eat good food and drink good wine whilst travelling. I think we would make good travel buddies, Mish & Chris! They contacted us to photograph their upcoming anniversary party, but we were bummed to already be booked out. So we were quite excited when Jen and Ben surprised these two with an anniversary photo shoot! Woohoo, thanks Jen and Ben! We absolutely loved hanging out with these two, and have to say the result of this session is some of our most favourite couples portraits yet.
We started the shoot at—where else? The Opera House of course. These two were naturals in front of the camera right away! I loved Melissa’s choice of outfit with her fun colourful jacket, slim jeans, pointy heels and a cool chunky necklace. Chris was looking smart and coordinated too!
These guys are such a hoot! They are good at having secret conversations at whisper-level, and at several points during the photo shoot, they suddenly surprised us and whipped out a goofy pose like this. Haha!
Ten years ago, Melissa and Chris had their wedding reception in the Sydney Botanical Gardens, so it just made sense that we should go back there for their anniversary shoot.
We decided to get a bit experimental with the next shot. It is actually a composite of 39 images! Click it to view it big.
This one is one of my favourites here. Love!
Love this one too. These guys are definitely still completely in love after over a decade together.
I love this one! The tulips in this part of the garden were beautiful and in full bloom.
Are these two cute together or what?? The light here was so dreamy, we couldn’t stop snapping away.
Another one of our favourites! Chris is really good at making Melissa crack up. She has such a great laugh!
It’s an ongoing debate in the Wong Couple household as to what the best panoramic view of the Sydney skyline is. I still haven’t made up my mind, but this angle is definitely a major contender! Click to view this one larger.
We seem to have a knack scheduling our couples shoots on days with gorgeous sunsets. The clouds were just perfect this evening!
On the walk back to the city, we just had to stop for a last shot here. It turned out to be one of our absolute favourites of the afternoon.
Melissa and Chris, we think you guys are awesome, and we’re so happy we had the chance to do a proper photo shoot with you! We hope you have a blast at your anniversary party. May your next 10 years together be filled with just as much good food, good wine, trips to amazing places, beautiful memories, love, and joy as your first ten years. Congratulations!!
