Today, we bring you the first part of Ellen & Martin’s wedding! Because Martin lives in England, we didn’t meet him until their engagement session at the University of Sydney. There we were, waiting in the quad, when a happy-looking man approached us and said, “You must be Jeff and Erin!” It was Martin, fresh off the airplane from England just two weeks before his wedding. Ellen was still searching for parking and so we got to chatting.
“You must be getting excited,” I said, “now that your wedding is only two weeks away!”
Martin smiled at me and said contentedly, “I’ve been excited since 2008, when I first met her.”
This sentiment really echoed throughout Ellen and Martin’s wedding. I could see it in everyone who attended. Sure, there was excitement over the details and the food and the party (and it was an awesome party as you’ll see) but the important thing was that everyone had come together to celebrate the joining of two people who had found each other, and despite thousands of miles between them, had fallen in love. The important thing was not just the wedding, but that these two had met in the first place. The important thing was the words they spoke. The important thing was honoring family, friendships, and faith.
So here’s what you’ve been waiting for, folks! The girls began the day getting ready at Ellen’s house. Ellen was looking beautiful with her up-do and makeup!
I snuck some photos of Ellen’s gown and her stunning sapphire engagement ring. If that wasn’t already the perfect “something blue”, she also had an amazing sapphire bracelet to go with it!
The house was busy with commotion as the finishing touches were put on, people began to arrive, and excitement filled the air.
Ellen’s sister and bridesmaids were also looking lovely with their red accents.
Meanwhile, Jeff was hanging out with the boys, who were getting ready separately. Everyone was in such good spirits, so Jeff had some fun getting photos of the boys helping Martin “get ready”. Shoe shine and hair comb? Bring it on…
Martin’s parents were there, and they were beaming with joy.
The boys were looking sharp!
After every detail was in place and all were ready to go, we made our way over to St Patrick’s Church in Guildford for Ellen and Martin’s lovely ceremony.
They have many talented musician friends, so we were treated to some live music as we waited in anticipation.
Before we knew it, it was the moment everyone had been waiting for!
Then we were treated to something totally unexpected and wonderful… an amazing cello and didgeridoo duet! What a perfect way to celebrate “Aussie meets West.”
With pen to paper, it was official!
Once outside, we had some fun with the group shots in front of the church. We managed to squeeze everyone into this one!
You could see how happy all of Ellen’s friends were for her!
We headed to a nearby park to take advantage of the last hour of daylight before the partying began.
We had a lot of fun with the photo shoot… but the party is just about to get started. Tune in soon for Part 2! In the meantime, let us know what you think in the comments.
