After their beautiful ceremony in Randwick, our next stop with Minnah and Phil and their fun and friendly bridal party was the gorgeous Centennial Park. We had scouted new corners of the huge park before the wedding and found a secluded section in a beautiful grove of trees. I thought this was a perfect spot for some portraits and group shots! Minnah’s cathedral-length veil looked amazing in the breeze.
Don’t they look smart! What a great looking group with such great positive energy. Everyone was all smiles all day!
After we’d had our fill of the lovely pine tree grove, we went a few hundred meters down the road to where we’d found this picture-perfect bench under a massive Moreton Bay Fig tree. These are some of my personal favourites right here!
After all that fun in the park, we still had some free time before Minnah and Phil’s tea ceremony, so we dropped by the Sydney Eye Hospital for a few more shots. The Eye Hospital made for a particularly appropriate location given that Phil is an optometrist!
Check out the adorable signs that Minnah and Phil made, celebrating both Phil’s occupation and the fact that they only have eyes for each other. ;)
Then it was time for the next event! We arrived back at the Sydney Harbour Marriott Hotel at Circular Quay, with a Chinese Tea Ceremony and a fun-filled reception in store.
We had time to take a few detail shots as Minnah changed into her cheongsam and had her hair transformed into a beautiful new style. Family members prepared the tea the traditional way with sweet red dates, to symbolise the wish for sweet relations between the new families.
The eldest members of the family were served first as a sign of respect.
Minnah and Phil served tea to their parents after their grandparents. In a traditional tea ceremony, the bride and groom offer tea to each family member, and the family member offers a gift of jewellery or a red envelope filled with lucky money. Family members also have the chance to offer advice for the newlyweds, their well wishes and prayers. Minnah and Phil also said kind words to each of their family members, and expressed their heartfelt appreciation for being a part of their lives. It was a beautiful ceremony that moved everyone to tears.
Phil’s brother and sister-in-law took the chance to give Phil some marriage advice, which made everyone giggle as they had only been married themselves for a matter of weeks!
With the ceremonies complete, it was time to celebrate, and Minnah and Phil did it in style!
With entree’s served, the speeches began, and no one was safe… especially Phil! Minnah and Phil’s family and friends proved to be quite the comedians!
When Phil’s father took to the stage, it became clear where Phil got his personality and great sense of humour from. He had the guests in stitches and Phil and Minnah squirming in their seats!
When Phil took to the stage, it was his brothers who were now under fire. He also took the opportunity to let everyone know how big a catch he was, but in the end, it was Minnah who received the kindest of words.
Minnah changed the tone with sweet words of appreciation to her family and friends. She was looking beautiful in her traditional Korean wedding outfit and unique modern Korean hairstyle to match.
After all that delicious sugar, a bit of a wrestling match ensued among the adorable kids in attendance. Haha!
Minnah and Phil wowed us all with an effortlessly danced choreographed routine to one of my all-time favorite wedding songs, L-O-V-E by Nat King Cole.
Then everyone enthusiastically joined them on the dance floor. Minnah and Phil’s friends and family sure knew how to party. It was one of the most action-packed receptions we’ve seen in a while!
Minnah and Phil’s DJ from O-vation Mixworks did a fantastic job keeping the music pumping and the dance floor packed all night!
We love how happy these two lovebirds were all night long! What an awesome, awesome party! Thank you so much Minnah and Phil for choosing us to be your photographers. We have so enjoyed getting to know you both, and celebrating with you on such a perfect day. Congratulations!
